Examining Wildfire Spread Variables for Assessing Forest Burn Vulnerability

The scale and danger of wildfires are a growing concern in Western Canada. Northwest Fire Centre is one six designated wildfire management districts the Canadian Province British Columbia. Higher-risk areas were identified by combining Normalized Difference Vegetation Index, Water Index slope gradient variables. When was included, Moderately High burn vulnerability categories increased to ~54% analysed, compared ~33% when not included. Together, all three variables provide basis for more accurate assessment forest vulnerability.
